Norship is the largest employer for ship Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul inNorthern Australia, the workforce is based in two strategic maritime precincts: Cairns on the Eastern Queensland Coast and the naval base in Darwin Northern Territory(NT).
The Workforce plays a vital role in supporting Australia and the Pacific Nations regional naval capability and understand the critical importance of vessel availability and seaworthiness.
Norship’s head office in Cairns serves as the heart of its maritime operations. Located just minutes from the marina and airport, it spans two fully equipped shipyard sites.
The 7-hectare site supports docking and undocking for vessels up to 400 tonnes.With three travel lifts, purpose-built blast and paint sheds, fabrication workshops, and shore-power berths.
A state-of-the-art 62 m × 26 m facility offers all-weather protection, humidity control, and advanced filtration, enabling environmentally friendly, high-end vessel refit capabilities. Backed by highly skilled tradespeople across shipwright, electrical, engineering, and fabrication services, the Cairns site delivers large-scale dockings, maintenance, repairs, and engineering solutions with unmatched reliability, capacity, and precision across defence, commercial, and private sectors.
